Proverbs Chapter 7
Proverbs 7.1 ¶ My
son, keep my words
and treasure up my
commandments with you;
Proverbs 7.2 keep
my commandments and live;
keep my teaching as the
apple of your eye;
What repeated
expression is used here? What synonyms are used for “words”? What idea is being expressed here?
Proverbs 7.3 bind
them on your fingers;
write them on the tablet
of your heart.
How would you
paraphrase the second half of this verse?

to wisdom, “You are my sister,”

What is the man
doing this whole time? What is the
implication for what we should do in similar situation? Can you think of a
biblical example of this?
Proverbs 7.21 ¶ With
much seductive speech she persuades him;
with her smooth talk she
compels him.
How does she
persuade/compel him? What is that talk contrasted with from earlier in the
chapter?
Proverbs 7.22 All
at once he follows her,
as an ox goes to the
slaughter,
or as a stag is caught fast
Proverbs 7.23 till
an arrow pierces its liver;
as a bird rushes into a snare;
he does not know that it
will cost him his life.
He does not know.
He is simply and untaught. He has not done what?
Proverbs 7.24 ¶ And
now, O sons, listen to me,
and be attentive to the
words of my mouth.
Immediately the
king returns to what in the proverb? What is the
implication here?
Proverbs 7.25 Let
not your heart turn aside to her ways;
do not stray into her
paths,

aside? Where are we to write God’s words? What does this
indicate to us of where the battle takes place?
Proverbs 7.26 for
many a victim has she laid low,
and all her slain are a
mighty throng.
Proverbs 7.27 Her
house is the way to Sheol,
going down to the
chambers of death.
