We’ll begin our study of the letter to the Colossians. In
order to prepare yourself for the study please read through the entire letter
(4 chapters). Try to do this in one sitting if possible so that you hear its
words in a similar way that the original recipients would have heard the
letter. Interpreting the New Testaments epistles involves learning how to read
someone else’s mail with the goal of understanding its originally intended
meaning.
Optional: read through the entire letter to the Colossians
and make your own paragraph titles. This will help you see the flow of the
letter. Keep the titles between 4-6 words long as this will help you to press
for precision. I did my chapter titles from the ESV and there are about 5
paragraphs per chapter.
